Information about the B+W MRC Basic 72mm polarizing filter.

This filter is built with a polarizing film placed between two optical glass elements, which are coated with a complete system of anti-reflective coatings (MRC) made of metal oxides, thanks to which the glass guarantees absolute color neutrality and provides one hundred percent color accuracy. The whole is enclosed in a new brass frame optimized for comfort and ease of use.

The brass frame ensures convenience and years of use.

Frames of all B+W filter series are made of brass, a very durable material that ensures years of use. Brass is harder than aluminum and more resistant to dents, abrasion, and temperature changes, so the frames do not jam when used at high temperatures, as can happen with aluminum rings. In order to eliminate unwanted reflections, the frames are painted in matte black.

MRC coatings in B+W polarizing filters

MRC series filters (Multi-Resistant Coating) are covered with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings made of metal oxides, increasing the optical transmission of the glass from which the filter is made. The light transmission reaches 99.5%. At the same time, the coatings protect the filter from damage. They are highly resistant to water, dust, dirt, contaminants, and scratches. These filters can be used without worries in difficult weather conditions and can be cleaned with a soft cloth without the risk of damage.
